Fractional ownership gets mistaken for a fancier timeshare more often than it should. The two rhyme, but the ownership, the asset, and the exit are nothing alike. So do you really own the yacht? You do, and it's worth being precise about what that means.

Ownership versus access

A timeshare or membership sells you access: the right to use something for a block of time. Fractional ownership gives you equity: a legal stake in a specific, named vessel. The first is a usage entitlement, while the second is a holding you own, use, and can hand on.

How the structure works

Your share sits inside a dedicated single-vessel LLC. You become a legal shareholder of that entity, and the entity owns the yacht. In practical terms:

  • It's a tangible holding in one identified boat, not a point-based booking pool.
  • It's transferable, so the share can be sold along a defined resale path.
  • It's the same vessel and crew each time, because you own a piece of that exact yacht.

What that feels like in practice

You get the consistency of ownership (your boat, your crew, your coordinated dates) alongside a defined way out when you're ready. Guaranteed usage days give you certainty on time aboard, and the LLC gives you certainty on what you hold. That is ownership, structured to be shared.
