How Fractional Yacht Ownership Actually Works

Fractional yacht ownership is often misunderstood as a fancier timeshare. It isn't. When you buy a fractional share with Only Yachts FL, you own a stake in the LLC that owns a specific, named vessel: a real, transferable holding in a real boat, shared across a small group of owners who split the purchase, the running costs, and the calendar.

This is how it works in practice.

You own the yacht, not a booking

A charter or timeshare sells you access, whereas fractional ownership gives you equity. Your share is held through a dedicated, single-vessel LLC, so you are a legal shareholder of a tangible asset, with the same yacht and the same crew every time you step aboard.

  • Real equity in one named vessel, held via an LLC.
  • The same boat and crew each trip, not whatever is free that week.
  • A defined resale path: your share is transferable when you're ready to move on.

What you share: cost, usage and care

Everything scales to the size of your share. A 5% owner carries 5% of the costs and receives a proportional slice of the calendar, roughly 14 days a year (est.), booked on a fair, coordinated schedule so owners never collide.

You step aboard. We handle the crew, the berth, the insurance and the maintenance.

Day-to-day operation is ours: crew placement, dockage, insurance, maintenance, repairs, and transparent reporting. Ownership without the operational weight is the entire point.

Entry, and what it covers

Entry starts at $150,000 for a 5% share (est.). Shared operating costs run about $32,500 a year at that share (est.), scaling with the vessel and the size of your stake. Unused weeks can optionally go into a managed charter program to help offset those costs, and any charter income is an illustrative estimate, not a guarantee.

Getting in, and getting out

The path is simple: choose a yacht from the fleet, purchase a share, and we structure ownership through the LLC and guide every step. When your plans change, the same defined resale path lets you sell your share, and we assist with the process end to end.
